  1. Hi grandma,
I want to say thankyou for being the best grandma we could have ever asked for. I love the time and effort you put in with us especially when we were little kids. I still remember the days we used to sit in bed with you and you would tell us stories about dad when he was a little boy. You will be missed, and the beautiful hand made cards you made us were amazing. It’s nice to think you can now rest in peace. We love you
Love Keith, Claire , Lucas and Chloe

  2. Dear Phil, Glen and Nancy – what a sad time for you and all your families. I have so many fond memories of my lovely Aunty Irene. School holidays spent at Coopers Plains, fabulous cakes and lots of laughing spring to mind. May all your memories be happy ones. Sending love and hugs, Barbara

  4. Thinking of all the family- such a sad time .
My beautiful Auntie Irene who was always like a second mum and with whom we spent so much time when I was a kid. She found joy in her family and we loved her in return.
    Love to all . Elizabeth

  5. The memories I most cherish are those spent with family, there is no greater feeling than the warmth of belonging to a family that cares for you. Grandma, you were such a big part in that, and it really saddens me that I’ll no longer be able to drop by for a cuppa, and a shortbread biscuit. Gathering together at your home for Christmas, was always an exciting time as we were growing up, the delicious smells, and knowing we had a special room ready for us when we arrived after the long car trip from Coramba. Sitting down for a delicious Christmas dinner, “Watch your toes”, and playing in the park across the road will always hold a special place in my memory.
As I grew up, you always supported and cared for me. Even putting together amazing care packages and sending them over to me and my mates in Timor. You opened up your home to Sandra and I, while we were getting settled after the ARMY, and always supported us. Flynt and Reef loved peddling down the hill from Amega street to visit their GG, who always had special treats and games for them to play.
The time I’ve spent with you will always be cherished, and I’m so glad I was able to give you one last big hug and wish you farewell before your time had come.
Thank you for being all that you are, and I hope I can be as strong as you have been.
Love always Wade, Sandi, Flynt & Reef xxxx

  6. To Nancy, Glen, Phil, your children and your grandchildren. Sending our deepest sympathies on the passing of Irene, a very special lady who her family loved deeply and she them. She will be sadly missed by you all but remember all the wonderful times you had with her. May she rest in peace. Love Terry & Lyndal

  7. Irene and Geoff played a big part in my early life and that of all of the cousins. Wonderful adventurous days spent exploring the creek at Musgrave Road. Cutting chaff and milking cows. The other aunties weren’t too happy about the names given to the cows – Mollie, Winnie and Ollie Bimbo (which we all knew was really Olive). Separating the cream and making butter. All wonderful memories of distant days.
Jan and I were truly sorry to hear of Irene’s passing and send our sincere condolences to Phil, Glen, Nancy and families.

  8. Sending my heartfelt condolences to all of the family. Great Auntie Irene will always be remembered. The sound of her laughter will remain with me for a life time. The compassion and understanding that she always gave out to others so easily. The short times that I did spend with her will be treasured. Rest In Peace.

  9. I have many wonderful memories of visiting Aunty Irene. So much love and fun, and a laugh that was absolutely contagious.
Love and condolences to all the family. X X X

  10. I love how Paul and Helen have commented on Aunty Irene’s laugh: it was truly delightful. She was my grandmother’s much loved sister and often around when I was growing up. Always so full of life and interested in what we were all up to. A visit to Aunty Irene was always something to be looked forward to and I know Ma truly treasured her friendship with her younger sister (even if they did name that cow after her!). My condolences and love to Phil, Glen, Nancy and their families.
