David’s Story

David's Story

David’s Story. Losing the love of your life affects you so deeply. David and I had been together for nearly sixteen years. He was my rock. When he died of a heart attack so suddenly, I just didn’t know where to turn.

Thank goodness the lovely social worker at the hospital gave me the phone number of Swanborough Funerals, because I was broken and lost without David. He was the one that made all the decisions.

Esther came out to my home to make arrangements for David’s service. She was so patient and understanding. She just took the time to listen. I spent a couple of hours telling her about David, how we met and his love for theatre. I showed her his collection of memorabilia.

I was the quiet one but David had many friends and acquaintances. I knew that they would all want to attend his service.

Esther suggested we celebrate who David was by holding the service at the local theatre company. After all, he was a member there and spent tireless hours volunteering. We rang and they counted it an honour to be able to hold David’s “Final Curtain Call”. So that’s what we did.

I must admit, I was a mess on the day but it was such a beautiful service.  Esther and her team along with the theatre company perfectly captured who David was, after all this was his final performance. The theatre company director was the MC, Swanborough Funerals put together a video montage of David’s journey including video clips of his different acting roles. There was a lot of laughter and a great deal of tears.

We closed the service with the famous “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. This was David’s Story, his “Final Curtain Call” as the stage curtains closed and we said our goodbyes.

Esther and Swanborough Funerals you did David Proud

I can’t thank them enough.
